Autumn 2014 tuition

WRITTLE ART GROUP

AUTUMN TERM 2014

We will have 3 tuition sessions

Session 1 - 15th September - Atmospheric Landscapes

Using a limited palette a red, a blue, a yellow, and one other, we will use the skills of wet into wet, wet on dry, dry brush work, and layering to create possibly two landscapes.

Essex Field

Painted with Yellow Ochre, Alizarim Crimson, French Ultramarine and Hookers Green Dark the first painting forces us into leaving lots of white paper.

Coastal View
If we have time we may look at the classical sunset sky.

Session 2 - 20th October - Flower Pot Mouse
A painting that uses layering to build up a picture, works hard to create hard light against dark edges and finishes with a mouse.

Painted with Naples Yellow, Light Red, Aureolin Yellow, Cobalt Blue, French Ultra Marine, Burnt Sienna, Alizarin Crimson or Permanent Rose.

Session 3 – 1st December Christmas Poinesettia
A soft background using wet into wet gives the background for this painting.  The background wash shines through the leaves and petals giving the translucent effect.

Colours used Cadmium Scarlet, Cadmium Orange, Winsor Yellow, Winsor Blue (Green Shade), Cobalt Blue, and French Ultramarine.
