2014 Spring Exhibition

The hard work of all members and the glorious Spring weather ensured that  over 400 viewers enjoyed a large and a varied selection of paintings and cakes at the 2014 Writtle and Roxwell Exhibition.

A sample of the work can be seen below and, as usual, apologies to the water colourists whose work behind glass does not photograph well.

Colin Steed Workshop at Writtle Art Group

Colin's relaxed and supportive approach during the workshop ensured that all present had an enjoyable and profitable time.  Taking as his theme a cottage in Tye Green, Margaretting, Colin demonstrated good watercolour techniques and in a furious two hours helped all members complete their version.

Jenny French Demonstration at Writtle Art Group

Burnham Staithe with Jenny French

The Sketch

Leaving white paper, concentrating on tones and the impact of different types of brush strokes were some of the main lessons from Jenny's session with the Writtle Art Group on Monday 10th March. A picture of Burnham Staithe in Norfolk allowed Jenny to share her knowledge and skills with over 50 members and her friendly approachable style ensured all present had a very enjoyable morning.

Mountain Scene  This allows us to look at skies, people in pictures as well as finding another use for all the plastic cards we have in our wallets and purses - we will use them to scrape out rocks!

March 3rd with Colin Steed - Watercolour
