19th October - Still to be decided

30th November – Winter Church

Wet in wet sky, wet in wet distant trees, trees and texturing are at the heart of this painting.  Masking fluid pops up again.

Writtle Art Group looks at ways of simplifying pictures

A photograph of an isolated cottage in the Scottish Borders gave members the opportunity to paint a picture where large areas of paint and strong tonal contrasts was the order of the day.

We hope you enjoy seeing the work.

Colin Steed Demonstration at Writtle Art Group

Colin Steed's demonstration on the 18th of May gave over 50 members an entertaining and highly informative insight into watercolour painting.  Clear explanations of the techniques used should ensure that bluebells should appear on the easels of Writtle for many weeks to come.

Writtle Art Group Spring Exhibition

The cold bitter wind did not deter the large number of visitors attending the 2015 Writtle and Roxwell 2015 Spring exhibition held on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd of March.  Over 350 paintings where on view with the usual variety of oils, acylics, watercolour, pastels, and pencil drawings ensuring that all attending could find something that appealed to their personal tastes. Good Artwork coupled with splendid home baked cakes ensured an enjoyable time was had by all.

A small selection of exhibits are shown below.  The usual apologies for reflected light and the lack of watercolours due to light reflecting off the glass.
